SRINAGAR, Oct 16: J&K State Pensioners Association held a protest in support of their long pending demands at Lolab Badra.
The rally was led by Mukand Lal Sharma and Gulam Mohi-Din Poshpuri, president of the association, Kashmir. Amid slogans the pensioners were demanding early redressal to their demands.
Addressing the gathering, Madan Lal Abrol, general secretary of the association said that pensioners and employees have been struggling for the last three years in connection with their demands including implementation of the 6th Pay Commission arrears.
He said that the Government has enhanced the salaries of the Legislators by three times and perks amounting to more than ninety thousand rupees per month, but not conceding the demands of the pensioners and the employees of the State.
Abrol criticized the Government for adopting dilly-delaying tactics in providing full benefits of the 6th Pay Commission to pensioners and employees.
Gulam Mohi-Din Poshpuri, while speaking, said that the pensioners association would evolve strategy of having a joint political front of trade unions in the State to ensure the defeat of the ruling coalition candidates in the coming civic elections in the State.
Among others who spoke were AG Bhat, Nazir Hussain, Mahashwar Sharma, RC Koul, GL Koul, Surinder Nath, etc.
