Penultimate ball win by Christ Church Akhnoor

JAMMU, July 7:  Christ Church Akhnoor drubbed Bethal Church Jammu in a thrilling contest by 1 run on the penultimate ball of the match in the ongoing Inter-Church Cricket Championship, here today.
Winning the toss, Christ Church Akhnoor scored 122 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 12 overs. Sunny was the main scorer who contributed 44 runs and hit 5 sixes in his innings, while Prince and Madan contributed 27 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For Bethal Church team, Lawrence and Amit took 2 wickets each.
Chasing the target of 122 runs, Bethal Church lost the match in an exciting contest by 1-run on penultimate ball of the match. Rahul and Samdeepan were the main scorers with 52 and 26 runs respectively. For Christ Church Akhnoor, Binny scalped 5 wickets, while Madan and Bullie took 2 and 1 wickets respectively. Man of the match was awarded to Binny of Christ Church Akhnoor.
In the second match, CNI defeated Catholic Church-B Jammu by huge margin. Batting first, CNI scored 217 runs for 1 wicket in the allotted 12 overs. Ambrose hit an unbeaten century, scoring 109 runs with 14 sixes, while Vikas was the other batsman who scored unbeaten 74 runs for his team.
For Catholic Church-B team, Shail took one wicket.
In reply, Catholic Church-B could not chase the target and were bundled out for a paltry total of 69 runs, thus lost the match by a huge margin of 148 runs.
Sameer and Sahil 21 and 20 runs for their team respectively, Vasu, Fleming and Anish of CNI team took 3, 2 and 2 wickets respectively. Man of the match was awarded to Ambrose of CNI.
The match was officiated by Rajesh Mattoo and Rohit Robert as umpires, while Rakul acted as scorer.
The tournament is being organized by Christian Sports Organisation, J&K, while David Mattoo and Victor Sotra are the organizing secretaries of the tournament and the tournament is being organized under the overall supervision of Rajesh Gill, president of the organization.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Evengical Church will take on Bakshi Nagar, while St Mary’s Church will face Christ Church Akhnoor.
