JAMMU, Apr 28: Ration Dealers Association Jammu has alleged that consumers are deprived of sugar and flour (Atta) by the CAPD Department.
In a meeting of the Dealers Association held here today under the chairmanship of Prabhu Dayal, president of the Association, the members strongly condemned the attitude of the senior officers of the CAPD Department for not improving the function of the system. They alleged that in last one year, the functioning of the CAPD Department has been totally collapsed and the senior officers at the helm of affairs have miserably failed to ensure smooth supply of ration to the general public.
They alleged that for the last two months, there was no sugar supply in Jammu and wheat supply during the month of February, March and even April has not been lifted by the public. The Director CAPD Jammu, Mr Chib and Dy Director Rationees claimed that tenders for the sugar supply are being processed, whereas, the public is being told by the Department through media that Atta will be supplied instead of wheat shortly to the consumers. But despite these announcements, most of the areas of Jammu are still without Atta supply for the last three months. The general public is suffering and CAPD department is least bothered. The dealers have been left to face the wrath of the consumers. Even the Kashmiri migrants who were earlier getting 9 kg ration per soul have refused to the ration at the rate of 5 kg per soul.
The Government has failed to solve the basic issues. They said that additional money for release of Atta was also deposited by the dealers with the department but pick and choose policy has been adopted by the department officers while dealers are facing the anger of the public. They described the sugar tender and re-tender as major scam and demanded high level inquiry into the matter.
They urged upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene personally and removed the inefficient officers to streamline the system in CAPD Department.
