People of various villages in Samba protest against power crisis

SAMBA, July 28: For last many days, the protests against the Power Development Department (PDD) is a continuous process in different parts of the Samba district but the Power Development Department (PDD) authorities have failed to take the cognizance of the same.
Today the residents of village Raya, Suchani, Nathwal and Patti held strong protest demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD) at Vijaypur in district Samba expressing their resentment over the power crisis.
The residents of various villages including Raya, Suchani, Nathwal and Patti assembled in outside the Executive Engineer Office Vijaypur. They raised slogans against the officers of the Department. People said that they are asked to remain confined to their homes on one side due to the Corona epidemic and on the other hand heavy power cuts in the scorching heat have made their life difficult. The villagers Upjit Singh, Ashok Kumar and Subhash Singh Jamwal said that there has been a huge power cuts for last two months and despite repeated pleas to the officials of the Department, the power problem was not solved due to which they were forced to protest against the officials of the PDD.
They said people are under great distress due to power cuts as people especially the old and infirm including infants are worst hit who can’t resist the hot and humid temperature of Summer.
Later the delegation of the people met the officials of the PDD regarding the problem and demanded a solution to the same. The officials of the Department assured them that the power problem would be solved soon.
