UDHAMPUR, Feb 24: Villagers of Mansar, Krimchi and other adjoining areas held a strong protest demonstration and blocked road for several hours after three bovine animals were found dead under mysterious circumstances at Krimchi, here today.
Shouting slogans, the protesting villagers blocked Udhampur-Krimchi Mansar road for more than five hours. Alleging that the dead animals were thrown there by the bovine smugglers, they demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and stern action against them..
The trouble erupted early this morning when some villagers found three bovine animals dead under mysterious circumstances. Before the Police could reach the spot and control the situation, people assembled and held a strong protest demonstration. They blocked the Udhampur-Krimchi road disrupting vehicular movement for around five hours.
Later, SSP Udhampur Suleman Choudhary reached the spot and pacified the protesters. On demand of people, the SSP also announced establishment of a Police Post in the area to keep a check on bovine smuggling.
