POONCH, Dec 23: The people from parts of Mendhar and Gursai today blocked Jammu Poonch highway at Jarran Wali Gali, falling in Mendhar and held protest demonstration against the CAPD authorities.
A large number of people of the area whose forms have allegedly been denied by the CAPD and revenue authorities for preparing new ration cards, today came out on the   busy Jammu-Poonch highway and staged massive protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the CAPD and Tehsil authorities Mendhar.
The movement  of  traffic on the busy highway remained disrupted from 9 am to 11.30 am.  Even many Army vehicles also got trapped in the traffic jam. The agitating people alleged that the CAPD authorities are not accepting their application forms for preparing new ration cards on the plea that such families whose name do not exist in the lists as per 2011 census, will not be entertained. They said if their names were not there in the lists, it was the fault of the Government agencies and not theirs. The officials responsible for it should be taken to task.
Later, Assistant Director CAPD Poonch arrived at the spot and he assured the agitating people to take up the matter with the Deputy Commission Poonch M H Malik and Director CAPD, G S Chib. He also asked them to keep their forms ready with them and a final decision in this regard would be taken shortly.
