KATHUA, Dec 30: People continued protest for second day today against the opening of wine shop at Hiranagar and warned that in case the decision was not revoked they will intensify the agitation.
The protesters being men, women and students raised slogans against the administration and accused it of vitiating peaceful atmosphere.
Later the Tehsildar and SDM Hiranagar visited the spot and pacified the agitating people.
Meanwhile the irate residents of village Shafaqi held a protest demonstration in the area and blocked the Chadwal road for two hours in protest against the power crisis in the area.
Raising slogans against the PDD the protesters said that the department has failed to restore the power supply despite their repeated pleas. Later on the intervention of local police they dispersed peacefully.
