POONCH, July 18: The people held protest demonstration against the R&B authorities and the District Administration and blocked the road in Kalaban area of Mendhar Sub Division today.
Official sources said that cutting work on 6 km Awan-Charoon Road in Kalaban was executed by PMGSY agency of R&B about 7-8 years ago. The agency did not execute any drain work. Due to rain the water from the road entered many houses in the area and public property was damaged due to it.
Irate villagers came out on the road this morning and held strong protest against the R&B authorities and District Administration. They blocked road near Chhunga Bus Stand for about four hours and raised slogans against authorities. Later, on the assurance of SDM Mendhar Dr Tanveer on phone through Tehsildar and Assistant Engineer concern, the people lifted dharna. The AE assured to dig drains within three days.
