People protest with dead body, block road

POONCH, Aug 5: The relatives of the deceased woman and villagers from Kangra-Galuta area of Mendhar today held strong protest on the road keeping dead body of young Nazia on the road and disrupted movement of traffic for more than two hours.
The deceased, 23-year-old Nazia Kouser, wife of Nassir Ahmed, hailing from Karnah Prat village under Gursai was died under mysterious circumstances in her inlaws’ house on Saturday. The parents of the girl alleged that it was clear murder and some violence marks were clearly visible on the dead body of the victim. Even her one arm was broken. They alleged that during postmortem at Mendhar hospital last evening doctors told that there were no marks on the body and police was also down playing the case.
The parents brought the dead body to their home at Kangra Galuta and today morning at around 9 am kept dead body on the road and started protest against police and hospital administration.They also raised slogans against District and Sub Divisional Administration. They demanded that murder case be registered against the in-laws as they used to harass their daughter and twice local Panchayat had settled the issue. They also submitted a written complaint against victim’s husband and father-in-law.
The protesting people later talked to SSP Poonch, Rajiv Pandey on phone. He directed SDPO Mendhar Riaz Tantray to visit the spot and launch inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC. Two doctors including a lady doctor from Mendhar hospital were also summoned on the spot to re-examine the dead body. Naib Tehsildar Gursai and police team assured fair investigation into the case then the people lifted dharna and took the dead body for burial at around 11.30 am.
