People should get booster dose to increase immunity: Rekha

JAMMU, Aug 1: Referring to the studies at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and other international research institutions suggesting that antibody level wanes after around six months after the primary vaccination with both doses and giving a booster increases the immune response, Rekha Mahajan, secretary J&K BJP, urged upon all the adult people of 18 years and above to get injected free booster dose at the earliest.
Rekha Mahajan, said that new cases on daily basis are reported, showing that Corona Virus was not over yet so people who are eligible for the vaccine doses should take them to limit the spread of the infection in the community.
With an aim to increase the uptake of the precautionary dose of COVID vaccine among the eligible adult population, 75 days – ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav’ was launched in mid July, this year, as a special vaccination drive, which is a part of the celebration for Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and aims to provide free precaution dose by Corona Vaccination Centres (CVCs).Earlier, free dose was provided to persons of 60 years and above only, she said.
Rekha Mahajan shared that States/UTs have been directed to implement ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav’ for 75 days as ‘Jan Abhiyaan’ with massive mass mobilization, through a camp approach. They have been advised to organize special vaccination camps on the routes of Char Dham Yatra (Uttarakhand), Amarnath Yatra (Jammu &Kashmir), Kanwar Yatra (all States/UTs of North India) as well as major Melas and congregations, to cover maximum population.
