Sir,
Kindly refer to the news report titled “Altaf reviews functioning, performance of school education Deptt” published in DE Feb 22,2017. It is a matter of delight because the Education Minister has held a meeting of the officers of J&K School Education Deptt regarding the functioning and performance of J&K School Education Deptt soon after assuming the charge of the office and he has sought detailed feedback from the Principal Secretary Govt J&K School Education Deptt. and other officers of the Department on the functioning of the department, Centrally sponsord schemes (SSA and RMSA), prescribed strength of teachers in different levels of schools, vacancies including ReT(s) and their mode of regularization, solving the sensitive issues of the teaching fraternity including their salaries, promotions, regularization of posts which the Minister has termed as most important to uphold the dignity and respect of the noble job as reported in the aforesaid news report. The Minister deserves full appreciations for taking immediate steps. It is hoped that the concerned officers of the School Education Deptt shall submit the feedback as soon as possible and may be implemented in leter and spirit in the best interest of 16 lakh students of the State and for the greater good of the teachers, common masses and the J&K School Education Deptt. Itself as well. In addition to the above there are 4800 schools without school buildings as reported in Daily Excelsior a fortnight ago and it is added that there are thousand of schools without library, laboratory and other basic facilities like, water, electricity, playing grounds and parking places etc. It is pertinent to mention it here that there are many 10+2 level schools in both divisions of the State but there are no subject specialized lecturers available in the discipline of Pol. Science, Economics, English, Sociology, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi etc and in Mathematics subject, there are 144 vacancies available in Kashmir Division alone reportedly besides vacancies of Jammu division due to which the students of these subjects suffer very much for no fault of theirs. Hope, the Education minister will continue his noble mission and will redress all the demands and problems of the students and the staff to upgrade the education standard of the State.
Yours etc…
