PG Arts locks horns with GDC Udhampur in summit clash

JAMMU, Sept 26: Defeating their respective rivals convincingly in the semifinals today, Post Graduate Department of Arts and Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur have sealed berth in the finals and will lock-horns against each other in the title clash of the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Men’s Football Tournament at GGM Science College Football Ground, here tomorrow.
The Tournament is being organized by the GGM Science College Jammu on behalf of the University of Jammu, under the supervision of Dr Vinod Bakshi, Physical Director.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, PG Arts prevailed over GGM Science College by five goals to four (5-4) via sudden death. The match ended in a goalless draw in the stipulated time, which took it to the tie-breaker and in the tie-breaker, the match again tied with (4-4) and the result came via sudden death, wherein PG Arts won the match by (5-4).
The goal scorers for PG Arts included Anurag Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Niteshwar Singh and Aman Singh Sambyal, while for GGM Science College, the goals were scored by Manav Khajuria, Suraj Kumar, Arjun and Sunny.
In another semifinal match played today, GDC Udhamur got better of MAM College by two goals to nil (2-0) in an easy contest. The goal scorers for GDC Udhampur were Pankaj Raj and Balbir, who netted these in 65th and 71st minutes of the match respectively. Both the teams, despite making lot of attempts failed to score any goal in the first half of the match. However, in the second half, the players of GDC Udhampur played as a cohesive unit and succeeded in pelting 2 important goals to win the match by (2-0). Rahul and Avinash of MAM College were warned for foul play.
The matches were officiated by Ajay Sharma, Kuchay Kumar, Rohit Gupta, Pardeep Katoch, Dhananjay Sharma and Gagan Kumar.
