PG Department emerges winner in Inter-Collegiate Archery Championship

JAMMU, Oct 15: The girls from PG Department won the overall trophy in Inter-Collegiate Archery (Women) Championship organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU).
The competition was inaugurated by Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, JU. About 7 teams from different colleges took part in the competition.
While inaugurating the championship, Prof Ishar stressed upon the staff to take extra interest in such type of events in the sports. He blessed the players, participants and organizers for the good results in the near future.
The overall championship in women Archery was won by the girls from PG Departments while a girl archer from GGM Science College namely Nargis Khatoon was adjudged as the best archer of the year among both Men and Women. Manju Mandla, WC Gandhi Nagar was adjudged as the 2nd best archer in the competition.
Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, who presided over the function, advised the players to be dedicated, sincere and devote time to the sports events.
The Championship was conduct by Jai Bharat.
In the ongoing Inter-collegiate Volleyball (Women) Tournament, GCW Gandhi Nagar beat GDC Kathua by straight sets with set scores 25-7, 25-13, and 25-19 and PG Department defeated SPMR College of Commerce by (3-0) set with set scores 25-11, 25-15, and 25-19.
The final match will be played tomorrow between PG Department and GCW Gandhi Nagar at 10 am.
Today’s matches were officiated by Amit Sharma, Naseeb Singh, Prableen Kour and Charanjit Singh.
The matches were organized by Vikash Karloopia (Volleyball Coach), University of Jammu.
In the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Football (Men) Tournament, PG Arts defeated GDC Kathua by (1-0) in the lone match played today. Anurag Singh scored the goal in 50th minute.
The match was officiated by Dr Brij Baloria, Ricky, Gagan Kumar and Taranpal Singh.
