JAMMU, Oct 23: PG Department outplayed the defending champions Government College for Women, Parade by four goals to one (4-1) to lift the Inter-Collegiate women’s handball title, here today.
The Inter-Collegiate Handball (Men and Women) Tournament was organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at Jammu University Sports Stadium.
Sangita Bhatt, Suman Lata and Anita were star performers from winning side, while Sonia Sharma and Diksh Sharma also fought well from Govt College for Women, Parade.
Prof Jasbir Singh, Provost Hostel, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education presided over the function.
In men’s section, MAM College beat Govt Degree College Paloura by (22-11) and PG Department defeated SPMR Commerce College by (17-10).
Now, PG Department will take on MAM College in the final on October 24, 2013.
All the matches were played under the supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Raj Kumar Bakshi, Sanjeev Jamwal, Nisha Sharma, Gagan Kumar, Vikas Karlopia, PD Singh and Jai Bharat.
The matches were officiated by Sudesh Kumar, Karun Magotra, Jyoti Sharma and Gourav Sharma.
