JAMMU, Aug 28: PG Department University of Jammu and GCW Parade won the men and women titles of the Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis Tournament respectively, here today.
The Tournament was organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, under the supervision of its Director Dhian Singh Bhau.
In the prize distribution ceremony, Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu was the chief guest who distributed trophies among the winners alongwith, Mr Bhau, who presided over the function.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Suman Lata, Physical Director, GCW Parade, Vijay Gupta Physical Director GDC Udhampur, Sudesh Bhagat Physical Director, GCW Udhampur, Romesh Sharma, Vikas Karlopia and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
In women’s final, GCW Parade drubbed GCW Udhampur by 3-1. Sonalika Sharma lost to Parul Sharma by 11 – 9, 8 – 11, 7 – 11; Shruti R. Sharma beat Purvi Sharma by 11 -8, 12 – 10; Shenaz Anjum outplayed Pinky Devi by 12 – 10, 11 – 10 and Sonalika Sharma trounced Purvi Sharma by 7 – 11, 11 – 7 and 11 – 7.
In men’s final, PG Deptt. Trounced GDC Udhampur by 3 – 1. Ankit Sharma lost to Rohit Pal Sharma by 5 – 11, 13 – 15, 11 – 9, 12 – 10, 8 – 11; Abhinav Sharma beat Aakashdeep by 11 – 1, 11 – 9, 14 – 12 and Abhishek Arora got better of Mannat Arora by 11 – 5, 11 – 7, 9 – 11 and 11 – 9.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gaurav Sharma, Narinder Kumar, Amit Sharma and Kumar Tarun.
