PG Deptt lifts Inter-Collegiate Women Kabaddi title

JAMMU, Nov 17: The University of Jammu’s PG Department emerged winner of the Inter-Collegiate Women Kabaddi tournament and lifted the title trophy, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at PV Sindhu Gymnasium Hall, here today.
The final match was played between PG Department defeated GDC Akhnoor by 44 points, while in first semi-finals GDC Akhnoor beat GCW Parade by 30 points and PG Department trounced GDC Bhaderwah by 12 points in 2nd semi-finals match.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu awarded the trophies and medals to the winners and runner up team in the presence of Raj Kumar Bakshi, Jai Bharat and Gagan Kumar. The matches were officiated by the technical panel of experts including Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma, Ankush Gupta, Keshav Singh, Amandeep Singh, Harpreet Singh and Gagan Kumar.
In Volleyball (men) pre-quarter finals matches, GDC Hiranagar beat GDC Akhnoor by 2-1 sets (25-15, 22-25, 17-15), PG Department defeated GDC Ramnagar by 2-0 sets (25-17, 25-17), GDC Pouni trounced GDC Khour by 2-0 (25-19,25-18), GDC Kathua got better of GDC Budhal by 2-0 sets (25-10, 25-12), GDC Mendhar trounced GDC Samba by 2-1 sets (15-25, 25-13, 15-13), GDC Paloura defeated GDC Gool by 2-0 sets (25-15, 25-19), GDC Nowshera beat GMC Jammu by 2-0 sets (25-14, 25-20) and GDC Udhampur trounced GDC Vijaypur by 2-0 sets (25-4, 25-18).
In quarterfinals matches, PG Dept. beat GDC Hiranagar by 2-0 sets (25-22, 25-23), GDC Kathua got better of GDC Reasi by 2-0 sets (25-20, 25-18), GDC Paloura defeated GDC Mendhar by 2-1 sets (25-23, 21-26, 15-12) and GDC Udhampur trounced GDC Nowshera by 2-0 sets (25-12, 25-22).
In semi-final matches, PG Deptt will compete with GDC Kathua and GDC Paloura will lock horns with GDC Udhampur tomorrow.
The matches were officiated by the technical panel of experts including Mulkraj Sharma, Amit Sharma, Shubam Sharma, Amarjeet Singh, Manik Nargotra, Bhawana Sharma and Vikas Karlopia.
