Players continue to sweat in Inter Collegiate Tournaments

JAMMU, Sept 18: Players continue to sweat in the ongoing Inter Collegiate Handball, Badminton, Kho-Kho and Cricket Tournaments, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at different venues in the varsity campus today.
PG Department outplayed the defending champion GDC Udhampur in a close contest with a score of 21-19 on the board in the Inter-Collegiate Handball Tournament.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education University of Jammu interacted with the players of both the teams. Other matches on the today’s fixture concluded in walkovers.
Among others present were Ashok Sharma, Sudesh Bhagat, Suman Lata and Vikas Karlopia.
The match was officiated by Sudesh Kumar, Gourav Sharma, Vinay Sharma and Priya Devi.
Meanwhile, pre-quarter matches were played in the Inter Collegiate Badminton Tournament for men and women at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.
In Mens category, GDC Udhampur beat GDC Reasi by 3-0, GDC Paloura beat GDC Ramnagar by 3-0, GDC Nowhsera beat PG Department by 3-0, GCET Jammu beat GDC Doda by 3-0, GDC Samba beat Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur by 3-1 and GDC Kathua beat GDC Kishtwar by 3-0.
In Womens category, ASCOMS Jammu beat Bhaskar Degree College by 2-0, Dogra College of Education beat GDC Hiranagar by 2-1, GDC Akhnoor beat YCET Jammu by 2-0, Dogra Degree College beat GDC Billawar by 2-0, GDC Kathua beat GDC RS Pura by 2.0, PG Department beat MIET Jammu by 2-0 and GCW Kathua beat Trikuta Degree College Nardani by 2-1.
Prominent persons present on the occasion were Dr Shashikant Goswami, Jaswant Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Vikram Jamwal, Romesh Magotra, Ashok Kumar, Sapna Jamwal, Pardeep Singh and Akhil Kumar.
The matches were officiated by Sat Pal Sharma, SAI Coach, Vikram Saini, SAI Coach, Ravish Vaid, Sanjeev Sharma, Jeevan Lal, Tarvinder Pal Singh, Gourav Raian, Buneet Singh and Shivam Gupta.
Matches in men and women categories were played in the ongoing Inter Collegiate Kho-Kho Tournament.
In women section, PG Department beat GDC Billawar, GCW Udhampur beat GDC Samba, GCW Kathua beat GDC Akhnoor and GCW Parade beat GDC Hiranagar.
In Men section, GDC RS Pura beat GDC Sunderbani, GDC Udhampur beat GDC Bani and GDC Kathua beat GDC Jindrah.
The officials during the matches were Anil Sharma, Ajay Gupta, Dhiraj Sharma, Jagdev Singh, Raman Kalaria, Palbinder Singh, Anil Kumar, Shibali Bhau, Surbhi Antal, Pooja Sharma and Gagan Kumar.
In Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament, GDC Kishtwar beat Trikuta Degree College by 9 wickets, whereas GDC Jindrah beat YCET by 6 wickets and PG Arts JU beat MBS College by 9 wickets.
The officials during the matches were Opinder Pal, Rahul Kumar, Dayal Singh, Vijay Raina, Vijay Kumar, Sadiq Hussain, Suresh Singh, Raj Kumar Baksh and Sachin.
