JAMMU, Sept 28: Inter-Collegiate Judo, Kabaddi and Volleyball Tournaments, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, were played here today.
In the Inter-College Judo Championship for men, PG Department showed supremacy and retained the title by winning 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal with 24 points at Gymnasium Hal, Jammu University.
In 56 kg category, Munish Sharma of GDC Paloura and Sohil Kumar of GDC Rajouri claimed gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Vishesh Thakur of GDC Kathua and Deepak Sharma of GGM Science College.
In 60 kg category, Visbhadar Singh of MIET and Kunal Sharma of GDC Paloura bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while Abhishek of GDC Kathua and Rahul Kumar of GDC Jindrah shared bronze medal.
In 66 kg category, Ashutosh Khajuria of PG Department and Govind Singh of GDC Rajouri secured gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Rahil Sharma of GDC Kathua and Nirbhay Singh of MAM College.
In 73 kg category, Pushap Thakur of PG Department and Lovish Rakwal of GDC Paloura clinched gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Vishesh Thakur of GDC Kathua and Deepak Sharma of GGM Science College.
In 81 kg category, Ranjodh Singh of PG Department and Randeep Singh of GGM Science College secured gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Sultan Khan of GDC Rajouri and Anuj Singh of GDC Kathua.
In 90 kg category, Abhishek Chowdhary of YCET and Sourav Bhadwal of GDC Kathua bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Randeep Singh of GGM Science College and Abhishek Sharma of PG Department.
In 100 kg category, Jyotiraditya Singh of GDC Kathua and Tanveer Singh of PG Department secured gold and silver medals respectively.
In Open category, Mohammad Arif Malik of PG Department, Sahil Sharma of GDC Kathua and Zaffar-Ul-Islam of GDC Rajouri claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
The matches were officiated by Ritika Slathia, Suraj Bhan Singh, Vikas Dogra, Virender Sharma, Pankaj Sapolia and Incharge of the Judo Championship Jai Bharat.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi Championship for men, GDC Paloura thrashed GDC Khilotrian by 33 points, PG Department registered win over GDC Mendhar by 14 points, GDC Kathua crushed GDC Rajouri by 20 points and SPMR College of Commerce outplayed MAM College by 6 points.
The matches were officiated by Anil Sharma, Ankush Chib, Kuldeep Singh, Ankush Gupta, Vishal Jamwal, Rakesh Kumar, Keshav Singh, Harpreet Singh, Amandeep Singh, Raki Sharma and Gagan Kumar.
In Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Championship for men, PG Department, GDC Rajouri, SPMR College of Commerce, GDC Udhampur, GDC Akhnoor, GDC Kathua, YCET and GDC Hiranagar crushed opponents and entered into quarterfinal stage.
PG Department beat GDC Bishnah by 2-0, GDC Rajouri crushed GDC Surankot by 2-1, SPMR College of Commerce registered win over beat MAM College by 2-0, GDC Udhampur smashed GGM Science College by 2-0, GDC Akhnoor crushed GDC Ramnagar by 2-0, GDC Kathua outplayed GDC Khilotrian by 2-0, YCET beat GDC Khour by 2-0 and GDC Hiranagar registered win over GDC Samba by 2-0.
The matches were officiated by Amarpreet Singh, Amit Sharma, Roshan Lal Sharma, Mulkraj Khajuria, Ramesh Singh Jasrotia, Manu Singh Pawar, Priya Choudhary and Rohani Devi.
Among others present were Sunil Pangotra, Tanvir Ahmed, Mohammad Iqbal Lone, Dr Jagjit Singh, Monika, Meqwan, Harvinder Pal Singh, Dr Tanveer Hussan, Ashok Kumar, Ankush Sharma, Ashwani Bali and Anil Kumar.
The Championships were being organized under the supervision of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
