SRINAGAR, Dec 31: The PGS Football Academy won the Etihad Winter 7-A-Side Knockout Cup final held at Iqbal Sports Stadium in Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district here today.
After an intense 1-1 draw, the academy emerged victorious in a thrilling penalty shootout, defeating Max Football Academy by a small margin. The tournament was organized by Etihad Football Academy and sponsored by Spectrum Advertising Agency; saw spirited competition among 16 teams from across Kashmir, showcasing remarkable dedication amid winter challenges.
Chief guest Waseem Asalam, Chief Coordinator of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, along with other dignitaries, praised Football Club Max and PGS Academy for their commendable sportsmanship. They highlighted the tournament’s positive impact on steering youth away from drugs, emphasising the pivotal role sports play in fostering a healthy lifestyle.
Haji Abdul Rashid Bhat, Chairman of Spectrum Advertising Services, expressed his delight over the ongoing sports activities and pledged continued support for future tournaments. Waseem Aslam, Chief Coordinator of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, applauded the organisers’ tireless efforts and called for sustained promotion of such initiatives, underscoring their crucial role in advancing football and discouraging drug use among the youth.
