PHE Drivers Cleaners Union submits memorandum to Minister

JAMMU, May 3: A delegation of PHE Department Drivers, Cleaners Union, Province Jammu, called on the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Choudhary and submitted him a memorandum of demands.
In the memorandum, the Union highlighted the demands, like regularization of daily rated workers, removal of pay anomalies, seasonal uniforms to staff drivers/cleaners, clearance of SRO-43 cases, creation of new posts of chauffer, drivers and cleaners for smooth running of the department vehicles, inclusion of category of Chauffer in seniority of operational /maintenance staff of the department to create promotional avenues against the post of Foreman, etc.
The Union also demanded fresh vehicles for drinking water supply in the region and also informed that the authorities had deliberately declared several departmental vehicles as junked and off the road for hiring private vehicles without inviting tenders.
The Union members listed all these demands before the minister, who gave a patient hearing and assured that necessary action would be taken on the same.
