JAMMU, Jan 9: Power House Hockey Club (PHHC) defeated Baba Bandha Singh Bahadur Hockey Club (BBSBHC) by three goals to nil in an inaugural tie and sailed in the next round of the Sub-Junior category of District Poonch Hockey Championship, being organized by Hockey Poonch, under the aegis of Hockey J&K at Sports Stadium, Poonch today.
In the first half, Nasir of PHHC netted the goal in the 15th minute, which served a jolt for BBSBHC players.
BBSBHC players strived hard, but their forwards could not succeed to score even a single goal and the first half ended with 1-0 goal.
Hundreds of spectators including sports lovers were seen cheering for their favourite teams by thundering applause and whistles.
In the second half, the aggressive Harsh of PHHC netted the goal in the 41st minute and raised the scoreboard to 2-0 goals.
Just after 7 minutes of the second goal, Vishal of PHHC scored another goal in the 48th minute with his excellent footwork and brought the opponent team under the lead of 3-0 goals.
The players of BBSBHC looked dominated before PHHC players in the remaining time of the match, which paved way for the latter to qualify for the next stage by wining the match by three goals to zero.
On the occasion, Rakesh Akram, SHO Poonch was the chief guest, whileas Nirdosh Kumar, incharge Sports Stadium Poonch, Narjeet Singh, senior PEM, Ravinder Singh and Mushtaq Ahmed, boxing coach were also present.
The match was officiated by Rohit Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, NIS Hockey Coach, Sohail Azeem and Amandeep Singh.
The championship is being organized under the overall supervision of Sham Lal Sharma, retd SAI Hockey coach and vice president of Hockey J&K.
