PHHC lifts overall Champion trophy in District Hockey Championship

POONCH, Oct 15: Power House Hockey Club (PHHC) Poonch lifted the overall Champion trophy in District Hockey Championship, organized by Hockey Poonch under the aegis of Hockey J&K at Sports Stadium, here today.
On the concluding day, final match was played in Junior Boys Championship between Stadium XI and Power House Hockey Club (PHHC) Poonch. PHHC beat Stadium XI by 4-3 through penalty shootout.
For Stadium XI, Tushar scored two goals in 7th and 15th minutes respectively, whereas for PHHC side, Sohil and Akash netted the goal in 14th and 20th minute. In penalty shootout, PHHC registered win over Stadium-XI by 4-3 goals.
Earlier, in Sub Junior boys, PHHC and Stadium-XI emerged winner and runner-up respectively, whereas in Senior boys, PHHC clinched the title trophy and Stadium Blue bagged runner-up position.
In Women Championship, PHHC and Stadium XI secured winner and runner-up trophies.
On the valedictory function, MLA Haveli Shah Mohammad Tantray was the chief guest, who awarded the winners and runner-up teams.
While speaking, MLA acknowledged the efforts of coaches and Hockey Poonch for grooming the talent of young players and assured all help from his side. He announced Rs 1 lakh for purchasing hockey equipments.
On the occasion, Mohan Choudhary (IFS) and Rafi Giri, DySP Headquarters were the guest of honor.
Among others present were Ram Saroop, Principal BHSS Poonch, Prof Jasbir Singh, Prof Kamal Jeet Singh, Krishan Lal, Nirdosh Kumar, Ved Prakash, Narjeet Singh, Incharge DYSSO Poonch and Dr Jeevan Lal Kapoor.
All the matches during the championship were officiated by Mukesh Kumar, NIS Hockey, Harmik Singh, Rohit and Pawan Kumar, NIS Hockey.
Vijay Kumar, PEM conducted the proceedings of the function.
The championship was held under the supervision of Sham Lal Sharma, Retd SAI Hockey and Vice President, Hockey J&K and was conducted with the efforts of Rajinder Singh, Treasurer, Hockey India and Gurdeep Singh Bakshi, General Secretary, Hockey, J&K.
