SRINAGAR, Oct 10: Physical Education College, Ganderbal and Silver Star Baseball Club emerged victorious in the women and men categories of the 7th State Baseball championship that culminated here today.
In the final match of the women section, Physical Education College, Ganderbal defeated Women’s College, M A Road by nine homes to four homes. For the winners Mudasira Hassan, Kounser Jan, Nusrat Jan and Manpreet Kour scored two homes each while as Farkhanda scored one home. For the losing team Mahjabeen scored two homes with one home each being scored by Badar-u-Nisa and Shahnaz.
In the men’s category, Silver Star Baseball Club defeated Islamia College of Science and Commerce by 11 homes to six homes. For the winning team, Zulfiqar scored three homes while as Qumail and Muneer scored two homes each. Nasir, Inayat, Shabir and Bilal scored one home each for the winners. For the losers Javed and Imran scored two homes each while as Abbas and Altaf scored one home each.
The tournament was held in connection with the silver jubilee celebrations of Amateur Baseball Federation of India and it was sponsored by Silver Star Hotel.
