JAMMU, Oct 21: The Political Affairs Committee of Panun Kashmir (PK) met here today and conducted a panel discussion on the latest political situation in the State and the statements emanating from Pakistan. The meeting was presided over by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir and attended by Virender Raina, National spokesperson, Upinder Kaul, general secretary, Kamal Bagati, organising secretary, N.M.Gadroo, Vijay Qazi, Ravi Punjabi, Ramesh Kaul, P.K.Kaul and Sameer Bhat.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, P K while addressing the meeting said that the time has come to thwart the belligerence of Pakistan against India in a comprehensive manner. While reacting to the recent statement of Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Aijaz Chaudhary that Pakistan is developing or has developed small tactical nuclear weapons for use against India, he said it smacks of highly sinister motive. Pakistan’s role in the creation and abetment of terrorism against India is a well recognised fact and as such the threat of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons falling in the hands of terrorists can also be not ruled out as a possible scenario, he added.
He said Pakistan has been recognised as the epicenter of global terrorism by the world community and with the conditions prevailing inside Pakistan, the world community needs to come together to prevent the dangerous cocktail of nuclear and terror combine. In the context of Pakistan PM’s visit to the US, he appealed to the United States Government on behalf of exiled Pandits to take a strong notice of the statement and the connected developments affecting the security situation. It is the duty of the United States administration to defang Pakistan of its nuclear eggs and secure the civilized world from an imminent threat, he added.
Virender Raina, National Spokesperson-PK said that the peace in Kashmir is possible only by strengthening the nationalist constituency in the State and also by frustrating the nefarious designs of Pakistan. Kashmiri Pandits are the prime victims of Pak sponsored and abetted terrorism in Kashmir and have faced genocide, ethnic cleansing and exodus in their own country. At a time when the world has become conscious of the refugee situation at a global level, the Pandits who are living as refugees in their own country need to be declared as Internally Displaced Persons. The recommendations made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs in this regard need to be accepted by the Government and implemented in letter and spirit, he added.
