PKM activists create scene over denial of permission for protest

JAMMU, Sept 14: An attempt to stage a protest demonstration by  Kashmiri Pandit organizations  at  Press Club Jammu parking site  led to a high voltage drama between some media persons and the PKM activists, who also lodged Police complaint against each other.
However, no further action was initiated by the Police as both the parties did not press for registration of FIR even as Press Club Jammu  ordered a ban on entry of the activists of  Panun Kashmir Movement and Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj, who were allegedly responsible for the trouble.
The trouble erupted this morning when a number of PKM and YAIKS activists assembled at  vehicle  parking area of the Press Club Jammu for holding a press demonstration in connection with the Martyrs’ Day.
Since protest demonstrations or such assembly of people are  prohibited in the area as per an order in this regard by the District Magistrate Jammu, a guard of Press Club Jammu approached the  PKM activists urging them to shift the venue to nearby Exhibition Ground.
As the KP activists refused to leave the place, a heated exchange of words ensued between the gathering and some media persons, who were trying  to explain that such gathering was prohibited in the area.
SHO Nowabad along with his Police team also reached the spot and tried to pacify  the PKM leaders Ashwani Chrungoo and R K Bhat, who  suddenly lost their cool and started creating a scene by shouting slogans.  The slogan shouting mob even went to the extent of dubbing media persons as terrorists and alleged that a video journalist  had attempted to molest their female activist.
Before the situation could turn more volatile, Police pacified both the sides, who later lodged written complaint against each other.
