Plates worth lakhs stolen from artificial lake site

JAMMU, May 5: Burglars decamped with building material (plates) worth over Rs 2.5 lakh from the site of under construction artificial Tawi Lake late last night, falling under the jurisdiction of Nehru Market police post.
As per police sources, burglars barged into the material dumping site of under construction artificial Tawi Lake late last night and decamped with 16 plates worth over Rs 2.5 lakh.
The plates were being used in the construction of the artificial Tawi Lake and were brought from Hyderabad in the month of March. The cost of single plate is around Rs 25,000 to 30,000.
The officials of the GVR Company, engaged in the construction of this artificial lake detected the theft of 16 plates of over Rs 2.5 lakh today and lodged a complaint with Nehru Market police post in this regard.
In the complaint, the Project Manager of GVR Company also gave names of some of the suspected workers of the company.
Acting on the complaint, a case under relevant Sections has been registered at Nehru Market police post and investigation started.
During preliminary investigation, involvement of some company officials surfaced in this theft case. Police is questioning the officials and workers to trace out the burglars.
Meanwhile, the workers of the GVR Company held protest and submitted a memorandum to Labour Commissioner Jammu of being getting harassed during investigation into this theft case.
