JAMMU, Feb 22: The enquiry initiated by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) over the allegations of players against J&K team skipper turned out to be harassment for complainants who were asked to attend hearing and recording their statements at JKCA office Jammu- which is almost 300 km away from their residences.
Around 13 Kashmir based cricket players submitted written complaint before the JKCA Chief Executive Officers (CEO) SAH Bukhari against alleged dictatorial behaviour of Skipper Parvez Rasool with their teammates and messy functioning of the captain in choosing team before any tournament as well as giving preference to his close ones in the team on February 15.
After two days of receiving complaint, the JKCA rather than summoning to Skipper, Rasool who was at Kolkata for Vijay Hazare Trophy, has summoned to all the players who raised their voices at JKCA Office Jammu before CEO, Bukhari for recording their statement as well as allegations on February 22 (today) at 2 pm. However, none of the complainants turned-up for recording their statements.
The spokesperson of JKCA, Ravinder Slathia informed Excelsior that after the allegation levelled by various Kashmir based players against Skipper- Rasool, the JKCA summoned all the players to come here (Jammu) on February 22 at sharp 2 pm and record their statements but none of them came here today to complete the due process to initiate enquiry. “We (JKCA office bearers) were waiting the players till evening but not a single player came here,” added Slathia.
Contesting the statement of the spokesperson, a Kashmir based player on condition of anonymity said that the premier body of cricket led by CEO Bukhari seems least bothered for the development of brilliant players and turned their blind eyes towards undemocratic and unethical practices, adopted by Parvez Rasool and all is being done due to absence of full-fledged JKCA body.
“We have written detailed complaint and submitted before the CEO, JKCA with their signatures against the malpractices adopted by the incumbent captain from time to time including selection of team, during match of any tournament outside the J&K and most important is his (Parvez Rasool) dictatorial behaviour with his teammates and what is fun of recording the statements of the players for repeating the same,” another player added.
“It is nothing. It is a practice which is being adopted by the JKCA administration to break down the unity of the players as well as to shield the malpractices done by the skipper,” they alleged.
They further said that the Administration of JKCA very well knows that maximum players who raised their voices weren’t in position to bear the expenses to visit Jammu and stay here for recording of the statements, that too when COVID pandemic is not over.
“If the Administration is serious regarding enquiry against the Skipper, it can frame a committee and the committee or official of JKCA themselves can visit the Kashmir based players to record their statement but calling the players almost 300 kms away from the Kashmir is only practice to hush-up the matter and giving clean chit to alleged tainted person,” they alleged and said that instead of delivering justices to players, the administration was making efforts to break the players by all means to hide their wrong doings.
The scribe repeatedly made phone calls to CEO Bukhari for his official version but he didn’t pick the call.
