JAMMU, Aug 2: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Jammu today organized a literary event at K L Saigal Hall where a Punjabi poetry book titled ‘Daastaan’, written by Resham Kaur ‘Resham’ was released.
Raman Bhalla, former Minister was the chief guest. Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Jammu, was guest of honour and S Ajit Singh Mastana, a well known Punjabi writer and Secretary Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Srinagar, presided over the function.
In his welcome address S Devinder Vishavnagrik, president, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha extended a welcome to the guests and the audience. He said that PLS is working for the promotion and development of Punjabi language. Papers were read out by Dr Harmeet Kaur and Ishu Pal Singh on the poetry of ‘Resham’ elaborating the main features of these poems. According to Dr Harneet the poetry of Resham is based on the life situations of the poetess herself. S Ishu Pal Singh in his paper described that the poetry of Resham is all about the engagement of womanhood to recognize her existence in the male dominated society.
Rama Bhalla appreciated the spirit behind the songs written by Resham Kaur Resham. He said that Punjabi Lekhak Sabha has done very well for the cause of literature.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn appreciated the creations conveying the message of social well being, brotherhood and sharing the sufferings of others and recognizing the real purpose of life.
S Ajit Singh Mastana in his address said that there has been a lot of progress in the poetry of Rasham as compared to that of what he had heard ten years back from her in a programme in Kashmir.
