JAMMU, Oct 25: Jammu and Kashmir’s teenage archer Sheetal Devi combined with Sarita won silver medal in women’s compound archery at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, here today.
The pair lost to China’s Lin/Zhang in a close encounter (150-152) and settled for second place. The duo had a great start to the event, dismantling Hong Kong (140-118) in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Sheetal and Sarita got the better of South Korean pair Nami Choi and Jeong Jinyoung (154-146).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Para Archers Sheetal Devi and Sarita on winning the silver medal in Women’s Doubles Compound event at Asian Para. The Prime Minister posted on X, “Congratulations to our Para Archers, Sheetal Devi and Sarita, for securing a splendid Silver Medal in the Women’s Doubles Compound Event. India celebrates this well-deserved success.”
While Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has also appreciated the teen archer by posing on X, “Fantastic achievement by 16 year old daughter of #Kishtwar Sheetal Devi at #AsianParaGames2023 in bagging well-deserved Silver Medal in the Women’s Doubles Compound-Open Event.”
