SRINAGAR, Sept 19: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said the initiatives taken by the Government for honing and providing technical skills to the youth would ensure creation of a proper manpower besides making them job ready.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized to distribute the Reorganization of Prior Learning (RPL) certificates under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) to the trainees of different trades which had come from various parts of the valley.
MLC Surindar Ambardar was also present. The Deputy Chief Minister while highlighting the importance of PMKVY said that the initiative would ensure that proper skill training is ensured to the youth and the aspiring people so that they are able to compete in the job market not only within the country but abroad as well. He said that it is historic initiative aimed to empower the youth of the country by making them technically well versed with different trades.
While referring to the traditional Kashmiri craftsmanship, Singh said that it is well-known that it had a global appeal and reach. He said that the handicrafts made by them were being sold and marketed throughout the globe from times immemorial.
The Deputy Chief Minister while appreciating the efforts being undertaken by the Prime Minister said that these have been instrumental in ensuring that the India comes up as one of the global giants. He said that the initiative Make in India would change the image of country from importer of goods to exporter of goods, besides creating lakhs of jobs in the country. “Initiative would also be game changer in the economy of the country by ensuring that the quantum of exports increases which would give the necessary flip to the local industry as well,” he added.
MLC Surindar Ambardar highlighted the importance of Skill India. He said that the programme would empower the youth of country with job oriented skills for prospective career.
