PMUY to be launched next week: Zulfkar

SRINAGAR, Sept 20: Mini-ster for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, today convened a high-level meeting to review the arrangements for launching of Prime Minister’s Ujjwal Yojana (PMUY) Scheme in the State.
PMUY is scheduled to be launched in the State on September 28 by Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.
The meeting discussed arrangements made by the department to launch the PMUY Scheme in the State. The scheme will effectively address the difficulties faced by poor people residing in the State in accessing LPG for cooking purposes.
The Minister stressed upon the concerned authorities to work in close coordination to make all required arrangements for the launch of the scheme.
The meeting reviewed the supplies and stock position of food grain and petroleum products in the Kashmir valley. It was informed that 264690 quintals of ration under NFSA and MMSFES was released for the month of September which accounts for 56.36 percent of the allocation. Similarly 33494 quintals of sugar stand dispatched.
The Minister was also informed that 1, 92,458 LPG cylinders have been distributed till 19th of September among the consumers in the Valley. The Minister was also informed there are 2.48 lakh LPG cylinders in stock in the Valley which is sufficient for 20 days.
Similarly, about 2545 KLs of Petrol, 7105 KLs of High of High Speed Diesel and 5306 KLs of Kerosene oil are available in the Valley.
Regarding stock position of food grains it was informed that 11242 Mts of wheat and 64616 Mts of rice are available in FCI Godowns of Kashmir valley. So far as stock position of DFCS&CA is concerned 1719 Mts of sugar in central store of DFCS&CA, 1110 Mts of Wheat and 406 Mts of Atta is available in various RF mills in Kashmir valley.
Secretary FCS&CA, Sajad Khan, Director FCS&CA, Tasaduq Jeelani, General Manager FCI, Kishore Kumar, officers of Oil Companies, Legal Metrology and concerned Department were present in the meeting.
