JAMMU, Feb 4: Steering Committee of PNBM Trust in its meeting here today, criticized the Government for the delay in the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill.
Addressing the meeting the speakers while pointing out that the delay of each day results in the destruction of this hoary heritage, said that the people are watching the Government about its response to the Temples and Shrine Bill, which is the consensus demand of the whole minority community of Kashmir.
The meeting among others was attended by Dr R L Bhat, Dr B L Hando, B L Saraf, H L Bhat, M K Jalali, Manmohanji Thaplo, Virinder Raina, B L Bhat, Pyarey Lal, M L Ganjo, R L Pandita, M L Malla, P N Khazanchi, Vimalji Wanto and H N Pandita. They said the vested interests and land mafia having become active behind the screen to sabotage the Bill.
To reiterate their seriousness to see the Bill through the legislature, the Temple committees and asthapans and the major shrines spread over villages, cities and towns of the Valley will meet on February 9 to take stock of the situation and intensify the agitation for the Bill. The speakers hoped that the CM would take an equally strong stand on his promise of passing the bill as he had done in case of the administrative units. The Trust again appealed to all the parties and leaders of the State to come forward and save this fast deteriorating religious and cultural heritage of the State.
