Poetry Writing Competition held at MIER

Participants and dignitaries during Poetry Writing Competition at MIER College of Education in Jammu.

JAMMU, Nov 15: MIER College of Education organized a Poetry Writing Competition in connection with National Education Day, here today.
The theme of the competition was “Importance of Education in Human Life”.
About 65 students of the College participated in the contest, which was organized by the Co-Curricular Committee of the College with an aim to make youth realize the significance of education to enhance the quality of life.
Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER, Dr Annie Koul HoD B Ed Department and the faculty members were present on the occasion to motivate the participants. Some of the participants also recited their self composed poems which were highly applauded by the audience.
The judges for the competition were Shashi Koul, Monika Marwaha and Arpana, Assistant Professors, B Ed Department MIER College of Education.
The first prize was jointly bagged by Sonu Manhas and Meenakshi Bhagat, while the second place went to Sumriti and the third place was claimed by Jagriti Joshi. Consolation prize was awarded to Pooja Rani.
Dr Renu, while felicitating the prize winners, said that education is the largest binding force of the society.
The contest was conducted under the guidance of Komal Sharma, convener Co-Curricular Committee in assistance with Jyoti Sharma, Member, C C A Committee.
