JAMMU, Mar 31: A meeting of PoJK refugees was held today under the banner of 1947 PoJK refugees Vikas Manch, wherein they highlighted their demands to press the Government for early redressal.
The meeting urged the Government to give PoJK refugees of 1947 the quota out of 24 seats, which has been kept reserved for PoK people in the Legislative Assembly.
It was also resolved in the meeting that fresh registration of families may be taken up by the Government, as since 1954, no further registration was done. The meeting also demanded permanent settlement rights over allotted land and dwelling houses, immediate clearing of land deficiency forms of Rs 1,50,000 pending till date besides issuance of notification for fresh forms or claims for land deficiency from those refugees who could not apply earlier due to various reasons.
The meeting announced that the Manch is proposing a Refugee Chetna Yatra from Poonch to Kathua passing through various areas.
Those who spoke included Mohinder Pyasa, Harnam Singh, Darshan Kour, Nanki Devi, Balbir Singh and many others.
