SRINAGAR, Mar 6: Police claimed to have busted a gang of burglars by arresting four persons involved in committing robberies in Budgam district.
A police spokesman said stolen goods they have stolen in Peer Bagh, Hyderpora, Ompora, Beerwah areas and in local trains.
He said the four notorious burglars arrested include Gowhar Ahmad Wani son of Wali Mohammad Wani of Arigam Khan Sahib, Muzaffar Ahmad Khan son of Hafizullah Khan of Parnewa, Budgam, Shahzad Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Watruna, Bandipora and Asif Ahmad Wani son of Akbar Wani of Watpora, Bandipora, have been arrested.
“On their sustained questioning stolen goods including 13 golden ring, 2 golden ear ring, 1 golden chain, 2 silver bangles, 1 necklace, 1 wrist watch and 17 mobile phones were recovered from various places. Moreover, 24 Airtel tower batteries were also recovered on their instances in Sopore area,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman said the gang was involved in many cases of house breaking in Hyderpora, Peerbagh, Humhama, Ompora, Beerwah and Budgam. They were also involved in committing burglaries in trains, shops etc.
He said with the arrest and recoveries from the burglars, police has successfully solved case FIR No’s .370/2013, 425/2013 and 34/2014 of police station Budgam and 38/2013 under Section 457, 380-RPC of police station Beerwah.
