JAMMU, Oct 21: “National Police Day” also known as Police Commemoration Day was observed with full ceremonial tradition across Jammu and Kashmir. The main function was organized at the Armed Police Complex Zewan where Lt Governor J&K Manoj Sinha was the chief guest. ADGP Armed/IR J&K, SJM Gillani read out the names of brave hearts of the country. A blood donation camp in collaboration with Police Hospital Srinagar was also organized to remember the fallen heroes.

The function was attended by Advisor to LG, RR Bhatnagar, Chief Secretary, J&K AK Mehta, Principal Secretary Home J&K RK Goyal, GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen AS Aujla, a galaxy of Civil, Army, CAPFs, senior & retired police officers, NOKs of martyrs, and Jawans of Police and CAPFs.
Meanwhile, the day was observed at all Zonal, Range, Unit and Wing headquarters where senior police officers led their personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.
In the winter capital Jammu, the main function was conducted at Gulshan Ground Jammu where Mukesh Singh, Additional Director of Police Jammu Zone, Jammu took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade. ADGP Jammu Zone read out the name of 264 brave martyrs of the country which includes martyrs from Police Organizations and PMF like BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, NCB, NDRF and FS, CD & HG. Earlier all the Jammu based GOs assembled at Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Station where rich tribute were paid to all the Martyrs.
To pay tributes to the martyrs on National Police Day, a function was organized this evening at Police Martyrs Memorial, Railway Head, Jammu. Lighting of candles, diyas and prayers were held in memory of Police Martyrs. Local people, families of martyrs and police officers attended the event and paid their homage by lighting candles and diyas. The function was attended by senior PWWA members, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli and other senior police officers.
In DPL Samba, a Police Parade was held in the memory of Police Martyrs who had made supreme sacrifice of their lives in the line of duty. On the occasion, SSP Samba Dr Abhishek Mahajan read out the names of all the Police Martyrs. Thereafter, SSP Samba along with other officers of Civil Administration/Police/security forces and retired police personnel paid floral tribute to Police Martyrs at Martyr’s Memorial, DPL Samba.
The Day was observed at DPL Udhampur in a programme presided over by Suleman Choudhary, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, who read over the names of martyrs as a mark of homage, respect and remembrance to them. After the guard of honour, floral tributes were paid at Shaheedi Smarak by the family members of Police Martyrs, retired police personnel and distinguished guests.
In Kathua, Police Commemoration day was observed at District Lines Kathua to honour the brave hearts of the country. SSP Kathua Ramesh Chander Kotwal led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. On the occasion, he readout the names of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur, organized commemoration parade in its campus in memory of the martyrs of various States Police, BSF, CISF, CRPF, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard, ITBP, NCB, NDRF & SSB who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Garib Dass, ADGP, Director SKPA Udhampur took salute of Commemoration Parade. Garib Das along with other senior Police officers paid rich tributes to the police martyrs by laying floral wreaths at the Shaheedi Smark.
National Police Day was observed at Martyrs Memorial District Police Lines Reasi wherein the bravery of Martyrs was remembered for their sacrifices. Contingents of Police and Paramilitary forces participated in the Commemoration Day Parade at DPL Reasi. SSP Reasi Amit Gupta read the ‘Roll of Honour’ names of the Martyrs of Police and Paramilitary forces of the country and paid rich tributes to them.
Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur observed National Police Day to pay homage to the police martyrs. On the occasion, contingents of Police and NCC Cadets of GGM Science College Jammu participated in the Commemoration Parade. Speaking on the occasion, Khalil Ahmed Poswal (SSP), Principal PTTI Vijaypur, read over the names of 264 police officers/officials including 37 police officers/officials of J&K Union Territory who made supreme sacrifice for the country during last one year.
The Day was also observed at District Police Lines Kishtwar, where an elaborated function was organized to honour of martyrdom of police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the service of nation. SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Batt took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade and readout the names of the martyrs and paid rich tribute to them. DC Kishtwar and other police officers also attended the function.
National Police Day was observed at District Headquarters Ramban where a function was organized to honour the martyrdom of police personnel who sacrificed their lives for the service of nation. SSP Ramban Mohita Sharma took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade and readout the names of the martyrs and paid rich tribute to them. Later SSP Ramban also interacted with the NoKs of the martyrs and listened to their grievances.
District Police Rajouri observed Police Commemoration Day by paying rich tributes to martyrs of police and paramilitary forces across the country. A Police Commemoration day parade was organized on this occasion at District Police Lines Rajouri where DIG Rajouri Poonch range, Dr Haseeb Mughal, took salute of the parade. SSP Rajouri Mohammad Aslam and other senior police officers paid with floral tributes to the martyrs at police martyrs memorial, DPL Rajouri.
In Poonch, the Police commemoration day was observed at DPL Poonch to hounour the martyrdom of the police personnel of the country. SSP Poonch Rohit Baskotra read out the names of brave hearts of the country.
All units and establishment in Jammu region paid tributes to CRPF warriors who laid down their lives in retaliating Chinese onslaught at `Hot Spring` on 21 October, 1959. At Group Center CRPF Jammu, “Police Commemoration Day” was celebrated with dignity. On this occasion, PS Ranpise, IG Jammu Sector and Rakesh Sethi, DIG, Group Center Jammu paid homage to the martyrs at the Martyrs Memorial. After this, the Chief Guest was given Guard of Honour by the Ceremonial Guard at the Quarter-Guard.
In Doda, National Police Day was observed at DPL Doda as a mark of respect and tribute to those Martyrs who have made their supreme sacrifices for the integrity and sovereignty of the nation. SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom read out the names of Martyrs to remember their sacrifices. The Commemoration Parade was comprised of various components of Police and CAPF viz District Police Doda, IR-5th Battalion Doda, CISF-581 and SSB-7th Battalion and the parade was commanded by Shoket Ali, Deputy SP DAR Doda.
At DPL Kulgam, SSP Kulgam Dr GV Sundeep Chakravarty along with other senior officers paid homage to the martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the Martyrs Monument. On the occasion, Kulgam Police in collaboration with District Hospital Kulgam organized a blood donation camp to save the lives of the poor and needy at crucial juncture.
In Pulwama, the function to observe Police Commemoration Day was held at DPL Pulwama. SSP Pulwama Ghulam Jeelani Wani led the officers in paying floral tribute to all martyrs of the police. DC Pulwama Baseer-ul-Haq Khan Choudary, ASP Pulwama Tanveer Ahmad-JKP, CO CRPF 182/183 and other senior police officers also attended the function.
The Day was also observed in Shopian. SSP Shopian Tanushree led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation at DPL Shopian where contingents of JKP, CRPF & JKAP performed a silent parade on the beats of Pipe Band. SSP Shopian paid floral tributes to the martyrs who laid their lives in the line of duty.
In Awantipora, the sacrifices of police in the line of their duties were marked with solemnity on the Police Commemoration Day held at DPL Awantipora. SSP Awantipora Mohd Yousuf paid floral tributes to all martyrs of the police of the country and two minutes of silence was observed with a heavy heart.
Police Commemoration Day was observed at DPL Budgam where SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to the police martyrs. Police officers of Budgam also distributed tokens of gratitude among NOKs of Police Martyrs and listened patiently to their grievances.
In Ganderbal, the Day was observed at DPL Ganderbal. SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. The function was followed by wreath laying ceremony and showering of flowers on the photos of Martyrs by DC Ganderbal Shaymbir, SSP Ganderbal DDC Vice Chairman Ganderbal and other police officers.
The Day was also observed at DPL Sopore where contingents of JKP, CRPF and JKAP performed a silent parade on the beats of Pipe Band. SSP Sopore led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. Besides, two minutes of silence was observed with a heavy heart.
In Kupwara, Police Commemoration Day was observed at DPL Kupwara with all respect and reverence for those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. DDC Chairperson Kupwara Irfan Panditpuri, DC Kupwara Doifode Sagar Dattatray, Vice Chairperson Haji Farooq, DDC members, Chairman MC Kupwara and BDC members attended the function. Besides, officers of local RR, TA and CAPF units also paid their tributes to the martyrs.
National Police Day was also observed at DPL Bandipora. On the occasion, DC Bandipora Owais Ahmad and SSP Bandipora Mohmmad Zahid led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to the police martyrs. Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora, CJM Bandipora, ADC Bandipora, CPO Bandipora and other police officers attended the function, besides families of police martyrs of district Bandipora and retired police personnel.
In Handwara, the function was held at DPL Handwara. SP Handwara Sheema Nabi Qasba led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives for the nation. ADC Handwara Nazir Ahmad, SDPO Handwara, Deputy SP DAR Handwara, other officers of Police, SSB, CRPF, BSF and families of martyred police personnel were present on the occasion.
The Day was also observed in Baramulla where SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. On the occasion, contingents of District Police, 53 Battalion CRPF, 2nd Battalion SSB and IRP 13th Battalion and other officers participated.
In Anantnag, Police Commemoration Day was observed at DPL Anantnag wherein the martyrs were remembered for their sacrifices for the nation. SSP Anantnag Ashish Mishra, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Basharat Qayoom, Commandants of different CRPF/IRP/Army Battalions and other senior officers of civil and police administration paid rich tributes to the martyrs. The names of martyrs were read by SSP Anantnag.
