Police focusing on capacity building of cops to meet new challenges: DGP

JAMMU, Oct 29: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today said that the Police Department has laid focus on capacity building and enhancing proficiency of cops to enable them to handle current and emerging challenges to policing.
“Our focus is on professional policing through capacity building of cops  so that they can meet the current and emerging challenges to policing,” DGP said  after inaugurating one day workshop organised by Jammu Armed Zone at Armed Police headquarter here today.
Rajendra said that such workshops are important for deliberating upon the spectrum of issues that are vital for bringing about a perceptible change and improve professional functioning for better deliverance. He appreciated the initiative of Armed Police in bringing together the officers   to review, introspect, discuss and work out a feasible concrete plan that shall help in devising mechanism for improving professional policing . He also asserted that to be sensitive to the needs of the society, police should take steps towards capacity building, regular training and effective equipments to prevent crime and building community relations.
ADGP, Armed L. Mohanty also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of organising interactive session for deliberating upon the emerging challenges to policing .
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by IGP, Armed Jammu Zone Yoginder Koul.
The conference concluded with a valedictory address by Dr. S. P. Vaid, Spl. DGP (Co-Ordination and Law and Order) J&K.
Among others the workshop was attended by IG Traffic S.A.Wattali, all Commandants of Armed and IRP Batallions.
