JAMMU, Nov 11: Police today foiled the attempt of hundreds of Female Multipurpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) to march towards Civil Secretariat, Jammu for pressing the Government to release their pending 10-14 months salaries.
Hundreds of FMPHWs working in Health and Family Department and posted in various Sub Centres of Jammu Division, who are without salary for last more than 10-14 months under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) today gathered at Madam Shashi Bala Memorial Park, Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Jammu, and staged a protest demonstration.
Later in the form of a rally they tried to march towards Civil Secretariat to submit a memorandum of demands to the Health Minister. However, heavy police deployed on the spot foiled their attempt and even did not allow coming out of the premises of DHS, Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Sushil Sudan, president, JKMEF, said that only demand of these FMPHWs is to release funds under A/C Head 2200 Family Welfare but despite various requests the Finance Department has failed to settle the issue once for all and for which the proposal is lying in the Finance Department for last so many months as a result of which FMPHWs have not received their salary for last more than 14 months and thus they are virtually at the stage of starvation.
He urged the concerned authorities to wake up from deep slumber and come to the rescue of these FMPHWs, whose families are at the verge of starvation due to non-disbursement of their salary for last 10-14 months.
