Police foils casual labourers’ Secretariat march

Srinagar, Sept 3: Police today foiled bid by the casual workers of different Government departments to gherao the Civil Secretariat by using force.
The protesters under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir National Trade Union Front gathered outside the Exhibition Ground, which is close to the Srinagar Civil Secretariat, to raise their concerns of regularization with Government.
Talking to the media before the gherao bid, JKNTUF, State President Mohammad labours Dar said that casual labours have been suffering from last 20 years and for their rights they are struggling for long, but Government didn’t took them seriously.
Dar said Government didn’t work on the agreement that was signed in 2011 and 2012 till date. They appeal Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to intervene personally into the issue and settle the genuine demand of employees.
“Most of the workers have crossed age limit now. They spent their youthful days for the welfare of their departments and people,” Dar said, adding, government needs to settle their long pending demands.
