Police forms SIT in job cheating case

Srinagar, Sept 10: Police today constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SDPO Kothibagh to investigate a case regarding cheating of job aspirants of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs in Jammu and Kashmir.
At least six persons have been arrested including one affiliated with ‘Muslim Rashtriya Manch’- an arm of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The latest to arrest in the case is a resident of Seeloo Babagund Baramulla who is working as an orderly in JKPSC. “He is the 6th person to be arrested in this case. Due to larger ramifications, SIT has been formed to investigate this case,” a police official said.
The SIT has been asked to take up the investigation of case “forthwith” and “ensure submission of timely progress report to SSP Srinagar on fortnightly basis till filing of charge sheet.”
The members of the SIT include SHOs of Police Station Kothibagh, Maisuma, Investigating Officer of Police Station Kothibagh and an ASI of Kothibagh Police Station.
The case (FIR No. 73/2022) has been registered in Police Station Kothibagh recently.
