SRINAGAR, Nov 14: SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar today inaugurated a football tournament at Qamariya Stadium Ganderbal under the Civic Action Program.
According to the police, eight football teams/clubs from different areas of the district will participate in the tournament.
“The tournament witnessed a huge response from district players, and many football teams from the district expressed their desire to participate. However, finally, eight teams were shortlisted through a Lucky Draw series,” the police said.
The inaugural match took place between Ganderbal Heroes FC and Shalbugh Football Community, with Shalbugh Football Community emerging victorious with a score of 2:1. Aadil was declared as Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
During the inaugural address, SSP Ganderbal wished good luck to both teams for playing the opening match of the tournament. He also emphasized the importance of allowing young and budding players to explore their own thoughts and imagination through the medium of sports.
Furthermore, he urged the players to exhibit good sportsmanship, discipline and good behavior towards each other.
