SAMBA, June 8: District Police held prize distribution function at Sports Stadium, here.
On the occasion, Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner, Samba was chief guest, while Joginder Singh, SSP Samba, Adil Hamid, Additional SP, Samba, DySP HQ Samba, DySP DAR Samba, DySP Operation, Samba, SDPOs Vijaypur and Bari-Brahmna, all SHOs, incharge PPs and prominent persons were present in which winners and runner ups of different tournaments were awarded.
The sports mela comprising different sports activities viz Hockey Tournament, Cricket Tournament, Badminton Tournament, Volleyball Tournament, Kabaddi Tournament, Football Tournament and Kho-Kho Tournament was organized by District Police under Civic Action Programme with a view to strengthen police-public relations, to promote sports activities among the youth and to keep the youths on right direction.
Hockey Tournament was won by Thalora Mandi Hockey Club, Samba and Kehli Mandi Hockey Club Samba stood runner-up. BRSC Club Samba emerged winner and Chandan Cricket Club Samba stood runner-up in Cricket Tournament. In Badminton Tournament, Chandla Badminton Club Samba remained winner and Jakh Badminton Club stood runner-up in Under-14 category, whereas Jakh Super Heroes emerged winners and Rajpura Royals stood runner-up and in under-19 category. Samba 3 comprising Happy Singh and SI Rajeshwar Singh emerged winners and Samba 4 comprising Pardeep Kumar and Arun Kumar stood runner-up in Open Competition Category. Kothey Pathania Volleyball Club emerged winner and Vijaypur Volleyball club stood runner-up in Volleyball Tournament. Kabbadi tournament won by Sarna Kabbadi Club and Smailpur Kabbbadi Club stood runner-up. Kartar Memorial Football Club emerged winner and Navneet Memorial Football Club, Samba remained runner-up in Football Tournament.
DC Samba and SSP Samba urged the players to work hard in their fields to achieve new heights.
