KATHUA, Feb 20: People shielding the notorious criminal, who was wanted by police in various offences, attacked a police party today, resulting into serious injuries to Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and two constables.
As per police sources, a police team from Kathua police station headed by ASI Ashif Ali was deputed to arrest an absconder namely Mou Din, son of Machan Din of Davwal, Ghatti.
As the police team reached the native place of the accused, they were attacked by the supporters of the absconder.
The injured police personnel were rushed to District Hospital Kathua, from where ASI was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced treatment.
The miscreant taking advantage of the situation escaped from the spot thus evading his arrest.
A case under FIR number 66/14 has been registered at Kathua police station and investigation started.
