RAMBAN, Feb 5: Police here today foiled a narcotic smuggling bid near T-Chowk in Banihal and recovered poppy straw like substance.
On a routine Naka checking, cops from Police Station Banihal signalled a car bearing registration no. JK08-M-7398 to stop which was coming from Kashmir and moving towards Banihal but driver of the car broke the Naka and stopped the vehicle 100-150 meters ahead and fled away.
During checking, 55 kg poppy straw like substance was recovered from the car.
In this regard, a case in FIR no. 30/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Police sources informed that search of the accused was going on and every possible effort is being made to apprehend him.
The recovery was made by a police team led by Inspector Mohd Afzal Wani, SHO Banihal under supervision of SDPO Banihal, Nisar Ahmed Khoja and under the overall supervision of SP Ramban, Mohita Sharma.
