JAMMU, Mar 12: Police today rescued 24 bovine animals and seized two trucks, while the smugglers managed to flee.
Police spokesman said that, on specific information, police party from Bishnah police station led by SHO Deepak Pathania under the direct supervision of SDPO Diwakar Singh laid a naka at Mehmood Pul and intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AJ-4071 and JK023-2094, which were on their way to Srinagar from Punjab.
During checking, police rescued 24 bovine animals, while the six smugglers managed to escape from the spot, he said, adding that on seeing the police party, driver of the third truck carrying bovine animals sped away the vehicle and escaped.
A case under Section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Bishnah police station and manhunt has been launched to arrest the smugglers.
