Police seizes liquor, challans 56

KATHUA, June 21: In continuation to its preventive measures within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal- today seized 38 bottles of illicit liquor and challaned 56 more people who violated the Government order in different forms.
Police said in order to prevent the trade of consumption and production of illicit liquor in the district a police team led by Inspector, Sunil Sharma incharge SHO, Police Station (PS) Kathua under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Kathua, Shammi Kumar during patrolling and naka checking duty intercepted one Alto car bearing Registration Number JK02H-8399.
During checking, 38 bottles of illicit liquor was recovered from the possession of accused namely Sohan Lal, son of Shiv Kumar of Chak Desa district Kathua. Meanwhile all the recovered bottles of illicit liquor along with vehicle were seized and person was arrested.
In this regard, a case FIR No 303/2021 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stands registered at PS Kathua and investigation taken up.
In addition to it in order to prevent evil effects of COVID -19 Pandemic, Kathua Police continuing its drive against the violators in the district challaned 56 more people who violated the Government order in different forms and a total fine amounting to Rs.22100/- was collected as a penalty from the violators.
