Political parties, edu institutions celebrate 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement

JAMMU, Aug 9: Various programmes and functions were organized across the State today in connection with celebration of 75th year of Quit India Movement by political parties, Government departments, educational institutions and social organizations.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated the historical milestone of  Indian freedom struggle, the 75th year of Quit India Movement at the Balidaan Stambh near here at Bahu Fort.

State general  secretary (Org), Ashok Koul, along with JAKFED vice chairperson, Munish Sharma, party chief whip & MLA Rajesh Gupta,State spokesperson of the party S Bijral, State treasurer, Chander Mohan Gupta, social media State incharge Jaidev Rajwal, district presidents Ayodhya Gupta and Baldev Singh Billawaria addressed the gathering and threw light on freedom struggle of India and sacrifices made by the great freedom fighters.
Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) also celebrated the 75th year of Quit India Movement by holding an impressive function at Party Headquarters here today. The function was presided over by G A Mir, president PCC and attended by all senior functionaries of  PCC, besides AICC nominees, leaders of Frontal organizations, DCC and BCCs of Jammu district.
Recalling the freedom struggle the party leaders threw light on the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and other stalwarts of Indian National Congress and entire rank and file of the party.
Those who spoke on the occasion and recalled the services of great freedom fighters and leaders included PCC senior vice president Sham Lal Sharma, vice presidents Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla and AICC nominees Deepak Rathode, besides Chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, DCC president, Anil Chopra and others.
Another function was held by party at its headquarters at Srinagar in Kashmir valley in  which the selfless services rendered by Mahatama Gandhi  were recalled. The speakers also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi for the sacrifices he has given for achieving freedom from colonial rule of British.
The function was presided over by senior Congress leader, G N Mir Lasjan and party vice president Mohammed Anwar Bhat, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani, spokesperson Farooq Andrabi, district presidents, Abdul Gani Khan, Zahid Hussian Jan, Abdul Qayoom  Shah,  G M Mir, Shameema Iqbal, Mohammed Sultan and Shameema Raina paid rich tributes to freedom fighters of the nation.
In connection with celebrations of 75th year of Quit India Movement a programme was organized at Gujjar Mandi Rajouri by the BJP Rajouri Unit. On the occasion senior leaders of the party paid floral tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country. Those who addressed the gathering included Vice Chairman of J&K Pahari Advisory Board, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, MLC Vibodh Gupta, BJP district president Rajouri Dinesh Sharma and others. They said on this day in 1942 Bharat Chhodo Andolan (Quit India Movement) was launched in the country.
A pledge ceremony was organized at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri on the occasion of 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement. The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Javed Musarrat read the pledge and Prof Iqbal Parwez Registrar of the University along with deans, HoDs, faculty members, officers, non teaching staff and the students of the University repeated it after him. They took the pledge to build New India by 2022, a country that is clean from poverty, free of corruption, terrorism, communalism and casteism.
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement and in observance of 70th year of Indian Independence, students, faculty officers and staff members of the University of Jammu today pledged to work for terrorism free, caste free, corruption free, un-cleanliness free and poverty free society as envisaged by the Prime Minister , Narendra Modi.
The pledge taking ceremony was organized by Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu. Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, Prof Keshw Sharma conducted the ceremony by reading out the pledge which was repeated by gathering with patriotic fervor.
State NCP paid rich tributes to the youth leaders who followed great movement of Quit India launched on August 9, 1942 led by Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The State president of the party Thakur Randhir Singh said thousands of the youth from different States and different religious groups sacrificed their lives in the freedom movement fighting against the British tyranny and gave their today for our tomorrow.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVD) Katra on the directives of Ministry of Human Resources and Development GoI and AICET organized a pledge taking ceremony in which all the faculty and students participated in their respective classes.
A handout issued by the University here, today said a number of activities will be undertaken to sensitize the students towards the freedom struggle and Quit India Movement which led to securing of India’s independence.
