Political reservation to Sikhs demanded

JAMMU, June 7: Bhai Kaniya Nishkam Sewa Society (BKNSS), has urged upon the BJP Government to provide political reservation to Sikhs in J&K.
In a meeting of the BKNSS held here under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh, chief organizer of the Society, in presence of several other community members and representatives of other Sikh bodies, the speakers expressed resentment over alleged injustice against the community. They alleged that Sikhs are not being provided political representation.
They demanded that a Sikh member should aso inducted as Advisor to the Lt Governor in J&K UT Administration. Some Assembly seats should also be reserved for Sikh candidates in J&K, they added.
They mentioned that Sikhs have been deprived of their political rights and being a minority community, demands share on the pattern of SCs and STs. The Sikh community had faced many hardships during partition of 1947 when they migrated from PoJK due to agression by Pakistan Army and more than 10,000 people lost their lives. “Being domicile of PoJK, we demand our share out of 24 seats reserved for PoJK refugees,” they added.
Prominent among others persent included Gajan Singh, Prof Yudhvir Singh, Surinder Singh Kala, Paramajeet Singh Raina, Raja Singh Sarpanch, Charanjeet Singh, Rajinder Singh, Harpreet Singh and Surjeet Singh Kukoo.
