JAMMU, Mar 5: A retired Principal Chandu Ram along with 100 persons from Ghagwal, Hiranagar and a large group of youth from Talab Tillo Ward No 30 today joined National Conference in presence of senior National Conference leaders including Minister for Planning, Labour & Employment Ajay Kumar Sadhotra and Provincial President Devender Singh Rana at party headquarters Sher-i-Kashmir Bhavan.
Welcoming the new entrants, Minister for Planning, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra reposed immense confidence in the youth, saying they stand gurantee to the accomplishment of Sher-i-Kashmir’s mission of making Jammu and Kashmir a vibrant and progressive State.
He described National Conference as a historic movement that has shaped the destiny of the people during most testing times and stands guarantee to progress, peace and development of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister urged youth to strengthen the party further, making it an effective instrument of change.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial President National Conference, Jammu Devender Singh Rana carved out a larger role for youngsters in National Conference, and said a massive drive is being launched shortly to enroll youth between 18 and 36 in the party cadres. He declared that the party will enter into 2014 electoral arena with renewed vigour.
Mr Rana said the enrollment drive would pave way for the elections of Youth National Conference at block, tehsil, district, provincial and the State levels. Alongside reinvigorating the YNC, he said the Ward and Mohalla committees of the parent organization are also being put in place to mobilize the party at all the levels.
“Youth have to play a big role in realizing the vision of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by reactivating the party in every nook and corner of the State”, he said while referring to the strong cadre base of National Conference spread across Jammu and Kashmir and engaged in service of the people.
Mr Rana reminded the youth that the challenges facing to the State were not yet over as the elements inimical to peace and pluralistic ethos were hell bent to create obstacle in smooth journey of taking the State to new pinnacles of development and progress. He said the dividends of peace are discernible in all sectors, with tourism and development gaining new impetus.
“Peace and tranquility has become an eyesore for the opposition parties who see their space shrinking in the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said and referred to the hullagulla being raised by People’s Democratic Party and Bhartiya Janata Party over non-issues to hoodwink the public opinion. This reflects the level of frustration that has overtaken the two parties, especially on the face of more and more people reposing their trust in National Conference, he said and cautioned the people to remain vigilant against their sinister designs.
