JAMMU. Nov 11: In an achievement of its kind, a Jammu-based polytechnic student has manufactured two unique cycles, which have been attracting young generation because of their amazing features. Encouraged over the response his mechanical wonder is receiving he has decided to embark on major project soon after completion of his diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
The passion for manufacturing ‘unique’ cycles gripped Tirlok Singh, resident of Jewel area and Mechanical Engineering student of North Polytechnic, Purkhoo, when he was on internship in M/s Pratap Engineers at Ludhiana.
He took such a keen interest in the manufacturing of cycles in M/s Pratap Engineers that he made up his mind to him-self manufacture those cycles, which nobody has ever thought of particularly in his home State.
In the months of January-February this year, Tirlok Singh, who is presently in the final semester of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, manufactured cycle, which is a modification of Hero Buzz, and christened it as “Cyclone”. The unique features of this cycle are 12 gears, double disc brakes, rear view mirror and small music system.
The second unique cycle christened as “Bolt” was manufactured by Tirlok Singh about two months back and this cycle has several additional features in comparison to “Cyclone”. “The concept and design of the cycle is purely my own and to manufacture it I had to take some technological help only”, Tirlok Singh said while talking to EXCELSIOR.
The “Bolt” is 21-gear cycle with anti-theft remote control system. The cycle with extra-wide tyres, two hydraulic disc brakes and dual rear suspensions can run at maximum speed of 45 kilometers per hour and average speed of 22 kilometers per hour with much less physical efforts. Moreover, the cycle has attractive speedometer and space to keep the cell phone.
“The anti-theft remote control system is of Minda company and sends information to the website of the company after 15 minutes long siren in case of any theft attempt”, Tirlok Singh said, adding “like Cyclone the Bolt has also become popular among the youngsters”.
Recently, Tirlok Singh sold Bolt in Ludhiana at a cost of Rs 25,000. “Large number of people are keen to place orders for Bolt but keeping in view final semester of Mechanical Engineering I am not taking orders”, he said, adding “after completion of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering I will start working on major and more unique projects”.
